Coronavirus
Following national advice from the Church of England regarding the Coronavirus we have implemented the following:
All worshippers will be encouraged to wash their hands before Mass with anti-bacterial soap or hand wipes (in the absence of gel).
Bins will be provided at the entrances to Church and the Hall to enable people to catch it, bin it and kill it.
Posters are located across the parish centre and entrances to the Church detailing best practice for hygiene and hand washing.
Door handles and access points will be cleaned with anti-bacterial wipes/spray on a regular basis to minimise the potential spread of germs.
Holy water has been removed from the stoups in Church.
At celebrations of Mass, Holy Communion will be administered in one kind only. That is to receive the host and not the chalice.
Communion will be given in the hand and not on the tongue.
The peace will be exchanged verbally and without contact.
The collection plate will not be passed around on Sunday, but a plate will be available for offerings to be made.
As normal, each individual will have a Mass sheet including the hymns.
Following extensive conversations with the Church officers and the parish centre manager, and given that St Columba's operates a 5* Hygiene rated cafe, refreshments will continue to be served, with the appropriate safeguards in place. Please follow the instructions of the serving team.
Thank you for your co-operation at this time.
Fr Daniel
